Since 2012, I have had the pleasure of being a part of the ‘Camp’ Camp Family.
This
amazing LGBT experience has been (and continues to be) the highlight of
my year and ‘the place where my heart dwells.’ Running strong since
1997, this year the community had the challenge to continue our
traditions of community, fellowship and fun in an entirely virtual
format.
The experiment was a remarkable success, offering new opportunities and insights along with all of the usual love.
We
hold the hope that we will be back together again in August 2021 with
the addition of some of the grand new programming that has developed out
of the imagination and passion of all of these fine folk.
The following are just some of the Memes I created for fellow campers. As a group, they present a highly ‘tongue in cheek’ take on some of our Virtual ‘Camp’ Camp challenges and adventures…
A very special thank you to KERRY for rounding up and wrangling all of the talented folk who make this amazing week happen.
Vickers has served for many seasons as our commanding yet comely Waterfront Director
Colored beads are used to designate years at camp. Red Beads are first year campers.
Princess helps folk dress up (often for the first time) for our Red Carpet Tea Dance
GARY, our DJ put together an amazing '80's Dance Party.
Zoom lag. Need I say more.
Granny's side gig? Who can fault her in this economy?
The
Talent/No Talent Show is a highlight of the week and takes quite some
effort to prepare, particularly on the part of our producer Kim
Not every act makes it in...
Some acts, of course, bring the house down.
Even Virtual Camp offered a great range of activities...
Cooking classes are especially popular.
WELL appreciated was the inclusion of Real World 'Camp' Camp traditions like the "The Camp Camp Dance Dance" as the final major event in an event filled week. It of course has it's own sub-traditions and nicknames...
The Closing Circle is the very last event for our week at Virtual 'Camp" Camp.
Community.
Fellowship.
Memories.
The Best Time Ever.
